Let me give you the backstory. I grew up right here in the San Fernando Valley, watching folks waste hours on basic car stuff like smog checks. It drove me nuts! Life’s too short to sit around in a waiting room, right? So, when I got the chance to start Joe’s Smog Check, I had one goal: make it quick and painless. That’s why I went with the drive-thru idea – a game-changer that lets you get in, get out, and get on with your day. Today, we’re a STAR-certified station with a reputation for speed, fairness, and a little bit of North Hollywood charm
The Drive-Thru Difference
What sets us apart? It’s all about that drive-thru magic. You don’t even have to step out of your vehicle. Just pull up and I will take it from there with some of the fastest, most advanced smog check equipment around. Most folks are done in under 10 minutes – faster than grabbing a burger at the drive-thru down the street! Whether it’s a blazing hot summer day or a chilly Valley morning, you stay cozy while we handle the heavy lifting.
We’re open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (closed Sundays so my crew can recharge). No appointments needed – just swing by whenever it fits your schedule. It’s perfect for busy parents, professionals sneaking in a quick stop, or anyone who hates wasting time.

Fair Pricing, No Gimmicks
Let’s talk numbers. As of March 26, 2025, a smog check at Joe’s is $51.75, plus an $8.25 certificate fee, for a total of $60.00 out the door. That’s it – no hidden fees, no surprises. That price covers everything: regular and STAR smog checks, hybrids, change of ownership, and out-of-state inspections.
Here’s the best part: our “No Pass, No Pay” policy. If your car doesn’t pass, you walk away without owing us a thing. I call it “Don’t Pay, If You Didn’t Pass Now™” – it’s my way of keeping it real with you. I’ve been there, sweating over a car that might not make it, and I don’t want you stuck paying for a fail. This deal’s a lifesaver for anyone with an older ride or just crossing their fingers.
What We Can Test
We’ve got you covered for vehicles from 2000 to 2025 – cars, trucks, SUVs, passenger vans, you name it. As long as it’s light-duty (under 10,000 pounds) and not over 7 feet tall, we can handle it. Sorry, no diesels – that’s a different beast! Whether you’re rolling up in a beat-up classic or a shiny new hybrid, we’ll get you sorted in no time.
